ISLAM: MASTER IN SHARIA-COMPLIANT FINANCE TO OPEN IN ROME
(ANSAmed) – MILAN, MAY 8 – The dimensions and interest in Islamic finance
are
growing, and the world of education is beginning to adapt as well: from this
autumn a Master’s degree in ‘Mediterranean and Arab Finance and Banking’,
organised by Rome-based La Sapienza university in collaboration with the
Institute of Economic and Financial Studies for the Development of
Mediterranean Countries (ISME), will be launched in Rome. The initiative is
patronised by the Italian Banking Association (ABI) and the Union of Arab
Banks
(UAB), and it is within the memorandum of understanding signed by the two
organisations in September for the promotion of the relations between
Italian
and Arab banks. The Master’s will be international, with lectures held
exclusively in English by university professors, managers, professionals and
experts in finance compliant with Sharia, daily Il Sole 24 Ore wrote today.
The
course “is aimed at educating a particular professional figure that will be
ever more demanded by the banks, in Italy, but above all in the entire
economic
system of the Mediterranean,” head of ABI’s corporate area Domenico
Santececca
