Two executed for robbery in Saudi

Two thieves have been executed after Saudi courts found them guilty of kidnapping and robbery said the interior ministry on Friday.

Two Chadian men were beheaded in the capital of Saudi, Riyadh, by the sword on Friday after being convicted of forming kidnapping and robbery gangs.

The men were found guilty of stealing 16 safes and forcibly driving a gold shop owner to an isolated place, robbing him and taking the keys to his store and eventually raiding his gold shop.

Ahmad Mussa Mahdi Adam and Mohammad Ali Ibrahim Omar were also found guilty of assisting other criminal acts, the official SPA news agency reported.

The execution was carried out in a public place as Saudi follows strict Islamic laws.

Official statements from the Saudi Government affirm 35 people were executed in 2007.

According to Saudi law murder, apostasy, rape, armed robbery and drug trafficking can all carry the death penalty.
