Doha • The global Islamic finance industry continues to flourish at an exponential rate, currently valued at

yesterday.

To support the flourishing Islamic finance industry, a Malaysian firm has decided to launch a magazine — Islamic Finance Asia — this month with special emphasis on Middle East, New Business Development Manager of Islamic Finance Asia,

P K Nair, said.

Islamic finance is one of the fastest growing financial segments in the world with an estimated 20 percent increase annually, said Nair, who is currently on a Gulf tour to hold discussions with Islamic finance officials in the region. To date, there are approximately 250 financial institutions offering Islamic financial services in Asia.

As Middle Eastern investors look to Asia for alternative investment avenues, the Asian markets are abuzz with growth and innovation. Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Brunei, India and Japan are all in strife competition, each vying for a piece of the Islamic financing pie, said Nair.

He said Malaysia’s phenomenal history with regards to this industry, Singapore’s positioning as one of the world’s leading financial hubs and Indonesia’s enormous potential, it is no wonder the world’s eyes are on Asia when Islamic finance is the topic.

Islamic Finance Asia magazine will cover every step of the ever growing Asian Islamic financial markets, charting the growth, product innovation, moves, launches and issues.

Until now, no publication has focused specifically on the Asian Islamic financial markets. With a comprehensive, bi-monthly, hard-copy magazine, Islamic Finance Asia will report on the fastest growing market in the world for Shariah compliant financing and provide its 10,000 plus readers with the knowledge and understanding they require to make the right choice.

Through Islamic Finance Asia’s sister publication, Islamic Finance news, more than 30 key industry events were attended in 2007 alone.

“We supported over 50 and ensured delegates received copies. We will undertake a similar schedule for Islamic Finance Asia ensuring we are present at all the key industry events not just in Asia but around the world,” Nair said.
