UAE writes off Iraqi debts worth $4 billion

Abu Dhabi: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan said the UAE has written off the Iraqi debts and interest worth $4 billion. The money was offered to Iraq by the UAE at various stages.
The announcement was made on Sunday during a reception held by Shaikh Khalifa for visiting Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki at Al Buteen Palace.
Present at the meeting were His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
