To all of our Los Angeles friends and supporters:
Your Congressman Henry Waxman was just elected to be the next chairman of the powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee. In this, he dethroned the long serving chairman and auto industry champion John Dingell. Congressman Waxman will be in charge of energy policy in the House and it will be in his power to bring about real progress toward breaking oil’s monopoly in the transportation sector.
As constituents, you now have the power to shape his thinking and priorities and by doing this serve the entire nation and the world. Let him know how you feel about our oil dependence and urge him to support the bipartisan Open Fuel Standard legislation requiring that by 2012 50% of new cars sold in America can run on alternative fuels like ethanol and methanol. This is a critical piece of legislation on our road to energy independence.

If you have close relations with Mr. Waxman and/or at some point meet with him in person please let us know and we would be glad to equip you with the proper talking points. We have a real opportunity here, let’s make sure we take full advantage of this development.

All the best and thank you,
