Another ally headed down the slippery slope of Shariah-Compliant Finance
South Korea is seeking to embrace Shariah-Compliant Finance and their financial community just held a dinner with Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB). Perhaps they are not aware of some of the characters who have been affiliated with the IFSB in the past, such as Mufti Taqi Usmani, who chaired its Shariah Advisory Board and who told this to the BBC when interviewed about Shariah-Compliant Finance:
“I like to call it jihad with money, because God has ordered us to fight enemies with our lives and our money.”
On the other hand, maybe the South Koreans are aware that Usmani holds some horrible views and just don’t care. After all, Mufti Usmani has made a small fortune advising Western financial institutions, from Dow-Jones to Citi and HSBC…
