American University of Sharjah (AUS) to host Islamic banking center

An Islamic banking and finance center will be launched at the American University of Sharjah (AUS) in the United Arab Emirates by the end of 2010.
Despite the name, AUS was founded by the ruler of Sharjah, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qassimi, though it is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (3624 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104, 215 662 5606). Moreover, AUS is licensed in the United States by the Department of Education of the State of Delaware.
AUS was supposed to introduce students in the UAE to American higher education. In this case, it appears that the UAE is using American higher education for Islamization or missionary (dawah) operations…
