The quote above is instructive because of the workplace of the man who said it. Dar al Hijrah Islamic Center in Falls Church, Virginia, is the mosque that also employed Imam Anwar al-Awlaki until shortly after September 11th, when al-Awlaki fled the US and ended up in Yemen. Al-Awlaki is still in Yemen, only now he is an Imam for Al Qaeda.
Interestingly, when al-Awlaki was the Imam at Dar al Hijrah, one of his followers who regularly attended the mosque was a young Army officer named Nidal Malik Hasan. Hasan went on later to kill 13 fellow soldiers and wound 30 others in a Jihadist shooting rampage in Fort Hood, Texas…
