One of the chief concerns surrounding Shariah-Compliant Finance is the whole issue of zakat, a form of tithing in Islam. According to Shariah law texts, one of the approved destinations of zakat is to “those fighting in the way of allah,” defined as those who are conducting Islamic military operations who are not on the Army roster.
