9/11 Hijackers’ Money Trail Could Go Unnoticed in Today’s Financial Security System

Since 9/11, the US Treasury, FBI and Department of Homeland Security have gone to great lengths to implement financial measures, systems and reporting requirements designed to detect, track and, ultimately, prevent financial support for terrorism.
Unfortunately, according to at least one analysis, despite all of the red tape added to the US financial and banking system, the money movements of the 9/11 hijackers prior to their terrorist attack could still go unnoticed.
