Peter Bergen is one of the most overrated men in the Western Hemisphere. He has basically parlayed a creepy interview of Osama Bin Laden in a tent somewhere in the late 1990s into supposed expertise on terrorism.

The reality is that Bergen isn’t really much of an expert and there is some evidence that Bergen was a clear apologist for the Muslim Brotherhood in the intervening years between the time he interviewed Bin Laden and the Ikhwan came to power in Egypt.

Bergen’s latest work is accurate if not incredibly tardy.

For the past 3 years we at SFW have been detailing support in the West for Al Shabaab, the Somali Jihadist terrorist group that recently committed the atrocious attack on the Westgate shopping mall in Nairobi, Kenya:

Individuals here in the US have been caught and convicted of material support of terrorism for sending money to Al Shabaab.

Peter Bergen, who recently came up with the astonishingly ridiculous statement that the Westgate mall attack by Al Shabaab was an indication that Al Qaeda was getting desperate, decided to finally cover this story for CNN…only 3 years after we began providing ongoing updates on Al Shabaab funding in the West…His article isn’t bad by any means. It’s just that it isn’t exactly the revelation that his headline suggests…
