SANAA, May 30 (KUNA) — Aden oil refineries on Friday came under missile
attack, Yemeni security authorities said.
But, the attack has caused neither material damage nor casualties, they
added.
Police vehicles rushed to the attack site of the Aden refineries, where
security was immediately tightened up.
The attack, believably involving RPG, came only one day after Yemeni
authorities nabbed a new 11-member al-Qaeda cell, including elements from
Saudi Arabia and Chad.
It also came a few weeks following similar attacks launched by al-Qaeda
elements in the capital Sanaa, targeting the US embassy and a compound where
foreigners resided.
Al-Qaeda has repeatedly threatened that it would target western and
governmental interests.
Meanwhile, seven people were killed and 11 others wounded, three of them are
in serious conditions, when an armed man opened fire on them during Friday
prayer in Quhal Mosque in Amran governorate, 100 km north of Sana’a.
The incident came only a few weeks after a bombing at a mosque in Sada also
following Friday prayer, leaving dozens dead or injured. (end) az.mt KUNA
