Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission expects to finalize rules for Sukuk instruments (Islamic bonds) some time over the next several months, the local English daily Bangkok Post reported on Tuesday.

Authorities hope that Islamic bonds will help draw capital from the cash-rich Middle East and other markets. Thai authorities should be careful what they wish for.
