Abdou Mohammed, director of the Zakat Duties Office in Yemen’s Dhammar province, urged citizens on Saturday (July 27th) to pay zakat money to official government authorities to ensure groups that support terrorism do not get access to it.
Mohammed said the state is the legal guardian for zakat money, adding that when zakat is paid to those who do not deserve it, it gives no reward to those who pay it, according to Yemen’s official news agency Saba.
Cards were issued to citizens confirming the payment of zakat money to ensure that such moneys are not manipulated, he added.
